MacMasters Nippers 2023
Surf Boat races have long been regarded as one of the most thrilling events at Surf Life Saving Carnivals.A boat crew is made up of four rowers and is steered by a sweep. A boat race usually has 6 crews. The boats compete around a set course which involves navigating though the surf on the way out to sea, turning the can and returning safely back to shore. This requires teamwork, communication, strength and skill.Surfboats were originally used by lifesavers as rescue boats. While the modern high performance competition boats have come a long way, they are in fact still used in rescues from time to time.
Throughout the years Macs has developed its reputation as a boat club. Our club fields Boat Crews ranging across most of the divisions of competition.
We have one of the best training facilities on the Central Coast based out of our boatshed at South Kincumber. The crews do rowing training at MacMasters Beach and other locations on the Central Coast.
To be proficient in rowing each crew member must have their Bronze Medallion and complete requalification and the required amounts of patrol hours in line with the membership category. Our sweeps are accredited through Surf Life Saving.
We are incredibly grateful to have ongoing support from several sponsors and supporters over the years.
Greenstone Partners has been our major supporter for 13 seasons.
The ongoing sponsorship of Loo Loos Coffee Shack at Macs and JD’s Family Automotive provides competition equipment for our crews.
Our club competes at a range of different carnivals and levels of throughout Central Coast Branch, Surf Life Saving NSW, Australian Surf Rowers League and Surf Life Saving Australia. We are proud of our long and strong history of Branch , State and National Surf Boat Titles Medal Wins.
