“The older we get, the better we were”

MacMasters Beach SLSC has a strong and committed group of active Masters competitors, who love to motivate each other to live life to the full.

Our “Macs Masters” range in age from 31 up to 60+ and compete in all events on the beach and in the water. Training through the summer season is consistent, and certainly chilled and fun. Having said that though, we all work hard to maintain our fitness and skills, but keeping the laughs running at all times.

Of course, being a part of our “Macs Masters” will ensure that you can be the best volunteer lifeguard you can be, during our busy summer months on MacMasters Beach. It is also a great way to inspire the younger members of our club.

There’s nothing better than hearing a child cheer on their parent at a masters carnival.

We have several training options available through the week, as follows:

Wednesday 5.15-6.15pm at Macs Lagoon – for flat water paddling

Wednesday 5.15-6.15pm at Macs Beach – for surf swimming and paddling

Friday 5.15-6.15pm at Macs Beach – for surf swimming and paddling

Saturday 8.00-9.00am at Macs Beach – for surf swimming and paddling

There has been a group of between 10 to 15 competitors who attend local carnivals on the Central Coast. We also attend the annual Nutty Masters carnival at Wamberal Beach and a highlight each year, is our weekend trip up to Fingal Bay to compete at their Masters carnival.

Last year, MacMasters Beach SLSC achieved a “first”, by winning our local “Branch” carnival at Avoca Beach in very challenging conditions. A huge group of 22 competitors proudly competed and celebrated our first place, out of 15 Central Coast clubs!!

In 2020, we have a small group of ladies competing at the Aussie carnival in Queensland in April. Later in the year, we will see a larger group travel to Riccione in Italy, to compete at the World Pool Rescue and Surf Life Saving Championships. Our club is happy to support these competitors, as they represent our great little club overseas.

We welcome everyone above the age of 30, to join our awesome group of “Macs Masters”. Training will continue as above until the end of April. Then we will be only doing the Wednesday lagoon and Saturday morning sessions through to September.
